With over 100,000 social media followers, Khiara Sherman is a versatile Bahamian singer/songwriter/producer. She is a former Miss Bahamas and a contestant in the 2009 Miss Universe competition. She infuses many genres into her music and is one of the most popular female artist from The Bahamas. Khiara is the featured artist and songwriter for most of her material, however she is always striving to hone her craft and also works with other songwriters.
Khiara, a finalist in the reality show, Born To Diva, which was aired on VH1, has been performing for over 10 years. She was the lead singer for two bands in The Bahamas, The Xtra Band and Visage. She has been featured on many Bahamian artists’ albums and has toured the US as a background vocalist. Khiara has also opened for numerous regional and international artists.
In 2013, Khiara embarked on a solo career. She is the featured artist and songwriter for her debut single, Are You the One, which was produced in the beautiful island of Barbados. Are You the One is a high energy blend of Top 40 pop dance music with a strong underlying Caribbean rhythm. “Are You The One” rose to #18 in Denmark’s Top 100 music charts and charted in Italy on the Italian Dj Charts.
Her 2015 release, Fly Away with Me, was selected by the Bahamas Carnival Committee as one of the top 25 Bahamian Soca songs for 2015 and was included on a Bahamian Junkanoo Carnival compilation CD. It was also featured by the national airline of the Bahamas, Bahamas Air, in its commercials, and can also be heard on the National Airline of the Caribbean, Caribbean Airways. The song has been selected as the featured song for the 2017 FIFA World Cup Beach Soccer commercial, which will take place in the Bahamas. Her 2016 releases have received regional and international recognition and Khiara performs in many Carnival events including Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival, St. Thomas Carnival in the Virgin Islands, in Barbados during Crop Over and at other major US Carnival celebrations including New York, Miami and Houston.
Her 2016 release, Party Shutdown, is featured in the motion picture “Live Cargo” staring Dree Hemingway, the great-granddaughter of American author Ernest Hemingway, who stared in the movie “While We’re Young” with Ben Stiller. The movie also stars Keith Stansfield from the block buster film “Straight Outta Compton”.
When Khiara is not on the road traveling for shows, promoting her music, or working on a new project she finds time to lend her voice for radio commercials, most recently she was featured in a spot for First Caribbean Bank.
